Fort Walton Beach, FL, is known for its picture-perfect beaches, family-friendly atmosphere, and beautiful natural areas. This beach town is a popular destination for snowbirds and summer vacationers
Most of the Fort Walton Beach resorts are located on the oceanfront art of Fort Walton Beach on Okaloosa Island. Most of these hotels are directly on beautiful beaches.
These hotels provide easy access to the beach and are a perfect place to enjoy a hot tub, and outdoor pool, or just sit in a beach chair and get up now and then to enjoy a food snack from one of the many food vendors.
Perhaps the most popular spot in all of Fort Walton Beach to catch a dive in the water is found at El Matador Beach. This beautiful shoreline beach park features warm sandy beaches and gigantic rock formations out in the water. Not only are the swimming conditions favorable but the views are simply amazing. The more popular times of the year might see frequent photo shoots happening at the beach, but there is plenty of room for you to escape the crowds and grab your own spot on the sand. The stairs leading down to the beach can be a little steep so make sure to watch your step!
For more space and fewer crowds make your way down to Brackin Wayside Beach. This local beach is found just off the fishing pier on Okaloosa Island and is wheelchair accessible. You will not have to worry about the children swimming as lifeguards are always posted for duty. Additional amenities at the beach also include volleyball nets, picnic tables, playgrounds, pavilions, and more. Locals and visitors can also enjoy their time fishing off the pier in addition to splashing around in the water. There is plenty of room at Brackin Wayside Beach so, swimmers and fishers will not be stepping on each other’s toes.
For good times ashore, set your compass for The Boardwalk, Okaloosa Island. This family-friendly area has it all, from clothing shops and delicious restaurants to public beach access and recreation spots.
Head to the beach to gather up the crew for a game of volleyball or to cast out a line at the Okaloosa Island Pier with a backdrop of stunning views over the emerald waters.
To unwind, chow down on burgers and sip cocktails at Al’s Beach Club and Burger Bar. Or settle down for all-you-can-eat shrimp or gator bites at Floyd’s Shrimp House.
Every Wednesday night during summer, the skies around The Okaloosa Island Boardwalk light up with a fireworks show. Grab a front-row seat at one of the area’s waterfront restaurants or from the white-sand beach.
