Nowadays, getting a case of Mondays and being miserable in the mundane 9-to-5 job is considered normal-but it is not the way to live.
If being unhappy at work is considered normal, then I am not interested in being average. Instead, I aspire to be unique.
Whether you’re just starting to consider your future job or are considering a career shift, attempting to answer the question “What career is suitable for me?” might feel daunting. However, you do not have to float aimlessly in a sea of options. Believe it or not, there are numerous tools available to assist you in narrowing your selections and locating your ideal career.
The first and most critical element of obtaining anything is determining what you want. Without a clear idea of what your ideal job is, you will never discover it. Numerous actual dreams are disorganized pieces of our existence. We only partially comprehend things we desire to learn more about because they fascinate us and materialize in our dreams as manifestations.
Because the reality is that it is feasible to land your dream career and like your work, it’s called living the good life, if you’re prepared to work for it, you can have it. My six methods for finding meaningful work can guide you to your dream career. Of course, it will take time, persistence, and patience to overcome, but if you stick with it, your bout of the Mondays will be history before you know it.
Are you prepared to pursue it?
6 Stages of Finding Your Dream Job
1. Get Clear
Before you do anything with it, you must determine what you excel at, what you like the most, the outcomes you want, and the context (industry, business, etc.) in which you may combine those three components to accomplish work that means deeply to you.
That may seem daunting, so let me break it down for you:
What you excel in is a combination of your natural abilities, skills, and character strengths. These should be jobs or roles that come naturally to you or that others have identified. The following are some examples: I’m an excellent writer. I am a natural at analyzing numbers. People have complimented me on my sales abilities.
What you like doing the most would include any hobbies, occupations, or passions that excite you and make you feel alive. For instance, working with children fills me with tremendous joy. I’m energized after assisting someone in resolving a personal issue so they may regain control of their life. Solving complex problems accelerate the passage of time.
The results you want to achieve are the issues you enjoy solving, the solutions you enjoy creating, and the people groups you most wish to assist. For instance, I like helping young moms (group of individuals) in navigating the first year of parenting (issue) by teaching people how to organize their days (solution). I adore it when a small company owner (people group) can set aside time to expand their business (issue) as a result of my payroll & bookkeeping solution.
Where you can connect those three requires considerable investigation. First, consider your surroundings (beginning with your zip code) for sectors, businesses, and charities where you might be able to work at the intersection of your strengths and passions. By the way, that junction is what I refer to it as your sweet spot.
Once you’ve developed a list of these four items, solicit input and confirmation from 3 to 5 individuals who are familiar with you and will be candid with you. If others see these abilities and passions in your life as well, you’ll know you’re on the right track.
If you need assistance defining your top abilities, interests, and outcomes, get my career Assessment Clarity Guide. It’s a worksheet that will assist you in determining your identity so that you may step into the task for which you were created.
2. Get Qualified
Once you’ve determined what you want to do and the locations where you might be able to accomplish it, you’ll need to become qualified to do the work. Perhaps you already possess the degree and experience necessary to perform the job you desire-that is fantastic. You may skip this level and go to stage three.
Suppose that is not the case, no worries. It is not as complex, frightening, or expensive as it appears to qualify for your ideal job.
To begin, you’re going to adopt your research hat once more. What credentials are required to perform the task, based on the employment possibilities you discovered? Make a list of everything you’ll need for the work, from credentials to supervised hours.
Then, determine the cost of obtaining those credentials. Again, it does not have to be precise-make an educated guess. Finally, depending on your budget, develop a realistic timetable for when you believe you will cash flow qualifying for the loans.
When you’re at this stage, it’s critical to remember one thing: Don’t think you need a degree to get hired even if the job description specifies otherwise.
Now, several job routes require a degree (doctor, teacher, lawyer, accountant, registered nurse, industrial engineer, etc. If you wish to follow one of those degree-required careers, remember that earning a degree doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Adjust your timetable to match your budget-you should be paying for your degree with cash, not with debt-and prioritize community colleges and state institutions over pricey private, out-of-state universities.
If you discover that you can obtain your desired career with some experience and perhaps a few qualifications, that is perfect. If such is the case, there are several inventive methods to qualify:
-
Enroll in an online class or workshop.
-
Enroll in an evening or weekend boot camp or crash course.
-
Inquire about interning or shadowing someone in the profession for a few months.
-
Borrow books and podcasts about the subject from the library.
-
Attend a local conference to learn and network.
You have no justifications. There are several chances to acquire the skills, information, and know-how necessary to perform the job you choose in today’s world.
3. Get Started
You are making the appropriate contacts will serve as your springboard to the right stepping-stone opportunity. That is to say, the job you get at this stage may not be your ideal job, but it should serve as a stepping stone toward your career goal.
While you’re at this stage, make sure your resumé is up to date to ensure they get seen. According to recent research, the average time spent by a recruiter on a resume in an initial screen is 7.5 seconds! That, my friends, is insane. However, this is precisely why you must construct a CV that will capture a recruiter’s attention.
Now, if the entrepreneurial bug has bitten you, this is also the moment to start the side hustle business you’ve been dreaming about. Launch your website, begin soliciting clients, and get experience. These are critical initial steps toward starting and growing a business debt-free and risk-free.

4. Get Promoted
This is an exciting stage since you are witnessing the consequences of your success in your career, which brings you closer to your ideal employment.
You are victorious because you:
Recognize your role: This is not a discussion about your job title. Understanding your position entails being very clear on what your leader wants of you. Meet with your leader and go through your job role bullet by a bullet to understand exactly what constitutes success in each area.
Accept your role: It might be challenging to accept your current position when your sights are set on “better” employment. However, it’s critical to view where you are today as the stepping as mentioned above the stone. You never know how essential this function will be in your next position. Therefore, concentrate on winning in the current moment and cultivate an attitude of gratitude for the job that lies ahead of you today.
Maximize your contribution: Maximizing your performance is all about the work you put into your present position. By going above and above your job, you gain the attention of your superiors, colleagues, and consumers. For example, assist a colleague in another area or jump in to complete a large project. Make an opportunity to go above and above, rather than waiting for one to present itself.
5. Get Your Dream Job
As you advance in status, you’ll ultimately obtain your ideal job-and believe me when I say that it’s a great feeling to look forward to going to work every day. When you arrive, you have officially begun “living the dream!”
However, your task is far from complete. Growth should not come to a halt simply because you have attained your goal. Instead, it would help if you continue educating yourself, enhancing your skills, and advancing in your business by taking on new challenges. Continue to seek opportunities to expand your knowledge and strengthen your skills-and do so until the day you retire.
6. Give Yourself Away
When was the last time someone takes the time to provide you advice, link you with an opportunity, perhaps share their knowledge with you over lunch? Now would be an excellent opportunity to do so for another person by donating your time, abilities, and resources! Become a mentor to someone rising through the ranks and assist them in securing their ideal career.
When your job has a purpose, it should never be completely self-centered. Your abilities have been bestowed upon you to assist others. Therefore, how can you continue to help as many people as possible with your skill
s and passions? When we all live and work uniquely, our planet will be a much better place.
Folks, I will not sugarcoat things for you: Finding your desired career is not simple, and it will take time. However, you must choose it intensely and be disciplined enough to rise daily and work for your goals. However, I am confident that you have what it takes. And when you do get to that point, there is nothing quite like the delight that comes from fulfilling the purpose for which you were placed in this world. Persist!

Beware Of “Get Rich Fast” Programs!
There is nothing like having your own online business. You make the decisions, and as one song says, you “win or learn.” However, creating your own company can be tricky, especially if you build from the ground up. There will be constant questions that must be answered, such as:
How will we consistently draw in customers? How will we stay up with trends? How will we do all of this and not break the bank? It quickly becomes obvious that one thing is needed above all else.
Information Is Needed
Without accurate facts and data, wrong decisions get made. When a fork in the road comes up, a turn can become a dead end.
What is the most common way to find information right now? If you said, “Google it!” you are right.
Unfortunately, Google isn’t an encyclopedia. It is a place where people upload information and sometimes that information isn’t as reliable as we would like it to be.
In fact, some people put false information online to see what effect it might have.
The Importance Of Straight Facts
But if you, as a new business owner, go to Google and receive false answers to your questions, you could lose your business. At the very least, you might lose money, time, or a good reputation.
One Type Of Scam
One of the most damaging falsehoods also known as a scam is the type that asks for people to “invest” in a company. Then, that company will help the person earn unbelievable amounts of money.
Go For Honest, Competent Mentors
It takes work to locate mentors and assistants who will help your business take off and do it without taking your shirt.
Our company has people like:
- Simon Coulson
- Paul O’Mahoney
- Barry Plaskow
- Itamar Shafir
