Best Beaches for Digital Nomads: Kauai Island

by | Digital Nomad, Digital Nomad List, Digital Nomad Locations

10 people find this post amazing!

Kauai is the most beautiful Hawaii island, with lush green mountains, a dramatic coastline, cascading waterfalls, and gorgeous golden beaches. Whether you like to spend your days catching up on the latest beach read, or have children to entertain. Prefer to spend most of your time in the water; you wonโ€™t have difficulty finding your ideal Kauai beach. Digital Nomads in Kauai Island is an open-living floorplan just as well suited to the solo traveler as it is to remote employees traveling this212 way.

Kauai, the oldest Hawaiian island, was the initial tropical destination we saw. Several years later, we still think it is among one of the most beautiful locations on the planet, honored with dramatic landscapes, dynamic colors, postcard-perfect coastlines, and abundant marine wild animals. Some of the most effective coastlines in Kauai come only by route, boat, or helicopter, but many are offered to any individual.

It pleasantly shocked us exactly how untaught Kauai is. Apart from a couple of resorts, expensive restaurants, and a huge mall, it’s pretty wild. We could easily find beaches that felt out of nowhere, and nature was close no matter where we went. It’s not the congested traveler paradise we pictured it to be. It’s simply heaven.

Unlike in Maui, some Kauai beaches are not safe to swim, or not at any time of the year. Yet their unspoiled elegance, the sea turtles and tropical fish you fulfill under the water, and the monk seals you can see indulging in the sunlight on numerous beaches make these beaches remarkable. Not to mention seeing dolphins or humpback whales jumping out of the water.

Top 10 Best Beaches in Kauai

ย 1. Keโ€™e Beach

The beaches on Kauai’s North Coast are best recognized for their stunning sights of the famous Na Pali Coast. The 17 miles of large high cliffs make that part of the island hard to reach by car. If you drive west along the Kuhio Freeway to its furthest point, you will come to among the top coastlines in Kauai- Ke’e Beach.

In the winter, the waves are big, and also the surf is dangerous. The best time to go is throughout the summertime when the weather condition is sunnier, and the waves are almost non-existent. A coral reef buffers the coastline, which is excellent for swimming and snorkeling.

This beach is also unique because it is the beginning of the Kalalau Path. The entire path is 11 miles each, but you are not required to hike the entire thing. You can stroll the first 2 miles to see incredible vistas of the Na Pali Coastline, or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can continue an additional two miles upriver to the spectacular Hanakapiai Falls. This stroll there and back is an extensive 8 miles so keep in mind to bring your walking shoes!

2. Tunnels Beach

Tunnels Beach has an extensive reef that is fantastic for snorkeling for both newbies and experienced. Simply ensure you are a beginner to remain near the shore as the outer reef has a high drop-off and occasional strong currents.

As the coastline deals with the open ocean, it goes through trade winds, especially to the right. As a result, surfing, windsurfing, and kite browsing are all ideal here. There are lifeguards posted.

Inspect the daily climate condition before you go out with gear. Vehicle parking can be limited, so either surge early to grab a spot or park at Haena Coastline Park, a short walk away. You can likewise locate bathrooms at Haena Coastline Park.

3. Hanalei Bay

Hanalei is a small, calm web surfer town that was our preferred in Kauai. It feels sleepy with charming shops and galleries throughout the day to spend a delightful careless day. It also has a delicious food vehicle scene, with several popular vehicles closing when they run out of fresh active ingredients. We had a delightful coconut vegetable curry at Cafe Tumeric, a revitalizing passionfruit, and coconut cut ice at Wishing Well Shave Ice.

The town is in the middle of Hanalei Bay, the most extensive bay on the North Coast and one of the most lovely beaches on Kauai. It contains 2 miles of beautiful soft sand, surrounded by picture-perfect lush green mountains. The bay divides right into three areas: Waioli Beach Park, Hanalei Beach Park, and Black Pot Coastline. At Black Pot, you’ll discover the historic Hanalei Pier featured in the 1958 movie South Pacific. The bay is vast enough and never feels jampacked, with a lot of area for everybody to expand.

The water is lovely and calm during summer, making it perfect for swimming and cruising. Likewise, attempt your hand at some SUP (Standup Paddleboarding) or kayaking. For households, the surf is the calmest for children near the pier. In the wintertime, the surf kicks greater for those even more skilled. There are numerous lifeguard terminals along the bay; however, always inspect the present conditions.

4. Pu’u Poa Beachย

Pu’u Poa Coastline (likewise meant Puu Poa) gets on the northeast edge of Hanalei Bay, running northeast from the mouth of the Hanalei River and ending in front of Hanalei Bay Hotel and the Princeville St. Regis Resort. This reef-safeguarded, gold sand coastline is the longest in the Princeville location – quite vast in front of the hotel and narrower near the river. Giant trees behind it give shade for almost a few hrs of the day. The beach encounters directly west toward Bali Hai, making it excellent for delighting in those picture-perfect postcard sundowns.

Golden sand, the Hanalei Mountains, Distant Falls, Bali Hai, and Hanalei Bay make this beach among the most attractive places to find. The coastline is a prominent area for weddings and is often used for flick places – most recently, The Descendants, with George Clooney.

Snorkeling at Pu’u Poa Coastline: The reef that protects the coastline from wave activity also provides an excellent habitat for many kinds of fish and the periodic turtle. Except for a narrow sand bottom network that goes out to deeper water, the reef extends simply under the surface area throughout the entire length of the coastline. Swimming and snorkeling on top of the coral reef are feasible throughout ordinary to high tides, but as the trend goes out, it ends up being shallow for swimming. Swimming and snorkeling below are not encouraged during wintertime swells when the surf comes up over the coral reef. There is no lifeguard at this beach.

5. Hideaways Beach

Situated on the other side of 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay (following the tennis courts’ narrow path), this lovely little beach has calm, crystal clear waters and mountain views. Despite the name, itโ€™s not much of a secret but does feel secluded as you can only reach it down a short but very steep muddy trail.

There is a rope to help with the descent but expect some climbing. This trail is not suitable for people with mobility issues or small children. I would also recommend wearing hiking sandals for the course and packing light to have your hands free.

It is worth the journey as the crescent-shaped bay has gorgeous golden sand and is one of the prettiest beaches on Kauai. You may spot some turtles too! It is suitable for snorkeling when the waters are calm, and the giant trees mean plenty of shade. Be aware that there are no facilities at the beach due to its location.

6. Anini Beach

This famous beach is the safest on the North Shore all year round for swimming, with very calm waters protected by a long reef. That, plus plenty of shade, facilities, and amenities, makes this an ideal spot for families looking for a day in the sun.

It can get crowded, so this is not for those who like sparse and quiet beaches. The vast reef means plenty of delightful snorkeling opportunities. You may spot the Humuhumunukunukuapuaโ€™a (Hawaiiโ€™s state fish) amongst other tropical fish.

However, take extra care when wading in, as there are some sharp corals and rocks. Anini Beach also allows camping with a permit.

7. Lydgate Beach Park

Located near the mouth of the Wailua River, Lydgate just might claim the prize for the best beach in Kauai for families. The biggest draws are the two boulder-protected lagoons at the northern end. One for adults, and one for children, the calm waters within are great for swimming.

While enclosed from the elements, crevices allow a variety of marine life to move through, making for lovely calm snorkeling opportunities. There is a helpful sign to identify the different reef fish you may encounter. After fun in the water, children have their pick of not one but two epic community-built playgrounds.

There are full facilities here too: lifeguards, toilets, showers, and parking. Lydgate Beach sits on the Ke Ala Hele Makalae coastal trail, with a superb paved 2.5-mile stretch for cyclists and walkers. Eventually, the coastal path will stretch for 20 miles along the East Coast.

8. Kalapaki Beach

The attractive Kalapaki Beach is just one of the best beaches on the East Coast of Kauai. The beach is in front of the Royal Sonesta Kauai (formerly the Kauai Marriott) in Lihue, Hawaii. There is a tiny resort parking area right by the beach, or you can likewise locate street parking nearby.

The coastline is right on Kalapaki Bay, so the waves are light and ideal for kids to swim. It is also an excellent beach to snorkel, kayak, go stand paddling, or simply drift about on an oversized inflatable. As it is a resort coastline, there are several dining options offered.

The most preferred is Fight it out’s Kauai. They have a good sit-down restaurant with sights of the bay. They additionally have a Barefoot Bar that’s terrific for families just pausing from the coastline.

9. Poipu Beach

Split into two bays by Nukumoi Point, Poipu Beach is the main beach on the South Shore. It is a well-visited crescent beach with lots of appeal for the whole family. The rock formation at Nukumoi Point protects the beach from large waves and is the favored napping place for endangered Hawaiian monk seals.

You will often see giant turtles sleeping in the sand too. These beautiful animals are protected by law, so please keep your distance and not use flash photography. The sheltered bays also create a shallow pool at the beachโ€™s eastern end, perfect for children to play in. Ideally, the lifeguards are based here too.

Behind the lifeguard tower are a large grassy area with picnic tables, toilets with showers, and a playground. The western end with gentle waves is ideal for beginner bodyboarders, and more experienced surfers can catch waves beyond Nukumoi Point. Families can hire bodyboards here at Nukumoi Surf Co., opposite the beach.

10. Kiahuna Beach

Those without kids could like to make their method to Kiahuna Beach, which sits right in front of the Sheraton Kauai Resort. It links to Poipu Beach but is much quieter. We remained in a beautiful condominium at Kiahuna Ranch Hotel on the coastline.

Kiahuna Beach is ideal for sunbathing, looking out at the perfect sight of palm timber lining the crescent shore. A reef just out from the shore is excellent for snorkeling, and the waters usually remain lovely and calm for swimming.

The gentle wave action indicates this is also an excellent beach for beginner browse lessons. Book yours at Kauai Browse Institution. Auto parking is restricted to resort guests, so I suggest parking at Poipu Coastline as it’s only a short walk away.

Weather & Climate of Kauai

Kauai has a highly steady climate pattern year-round. Throughout the winter months, you’ll experience highs in the mid-70s ยฐ F (23-24 ยฐ C), while summer temperature levels typically get into the mid-80s ยฐ F (28-30 ยฐ C). Hurricane Season

The last few years have seen raised activity around the islands, so it’s necessary to check climate conditions when planning as well as taking your trip to Kauai.

Going To Kauai in January, February, or March

This period is typical among the wettest on-island, but it’s not a wash. Temperatures will likewise be cooler, at the very least by Kauai requirements. In addition, need is reduced during this period, and the island will likely feel much less “crowded” than during the busier summertime or at Christmas time.

Checking Out Kauai in April, May, or June

In our point of view, the very early springtime months of April and May are two of the most effective months to visit Kauai. The weather condition is commonly excellent, and rates and visitor needs are down until very early June. This is the time of year to find fantastic rates on the island.

Going To Kauai in July, August, or September

The start of the summertime will undoubtedly be active – particularly in July; however, site visitors can locate excellent rates and will undoubtedly see lower general visitation as you head into August and September. The last two months of this duration are a great time to check out Kauai. Temperature levels will be warmer in the very early summer season via August, but only a few degrees greater than typical.

Seeing Kauai in October, November, or December

Similar to the cold weather, a part of the autumn period can be wetter than at various other times of the year, particularly mid-to-late November and also December. Visitation will undoubtedly be down throughout this duration, which generally results in lower need and costs – the exception, indeed, being the last weeks of December around the vacations when rates & demand will undoubtedly enhance substantially.

In our viewpoint, you can not come to Hawaii without experiencing, at the very least, one excellent luau. While Maui has several to select from, Old Lahaina Luau provides an extra intimate, authentically Hawaiian experience for guests. The solution is first-class, the food is scrumptious and fresh, as well as the performers are really mesmerizing.
