The capital of Tunisia is a city with the same name. It lies on a slope not far from the Mediterranean Sea. The slopes of the hill on which the city sits end at Tunisia Lake.
The city’s development started after the Arabs came to these lands in 695. A canal was dug to link the city to the sea throughout this duration. Since this canal, Tunisia ended up being a port city.
The architectural design of the old part of the city was formed in the ΙΧ century when the dynasty of the Agulabaisse made Tunisia a landmark. The old part of the city is a city of narrow streets and dark streets, with little roadways, popular mechanics stores, stores, markets, palaces, and churches.
Seeing the old part of Tunis is finest done at the splendid Jehama Az-Zaytoun, developed in 732. × Some of the product for the building and construction of the church was taken from the messed-up city of Karfogen.
With three pedestrian gardens surrounding the church in the ΧVΙΙΙ century. One of these Korana schools continues to operate today.
Tunisia is a tough nation to judge. On the one hand, it is the most intriguing nation I have remained in for a long time– far from Europe, ending up being regular (if enjoyable). Tunisia is warm, economical, not crowded, and has an exceptional history. But, on the other hand, I got ill three times in a month, had a hard time a bit with the language barrier, and continuously faced little problems.
Let’s begin with why you would desire to go to Tunisia. Tunisia has great beaches. Another thing to think about is that it is presently the ‘most Western’ of the Arabic nations– providing much of the cultural sights of Arabic nations without the culture shock.
Practically everybody I have talked to, consisting of plenty of wise individuals, has not rather understood where Tunisia is. It is extremely much an Arabic nation, considering that the 700’s and was normally semi-independent, excepting a duration of 80 years of French colonial guidelines up until the 1950s that, excepting all the French-speaking there, the present authorities appear to like to pretend didn’t occur.
I believe the greatest issue for many visitors will be security as, in current years, both transformations and terrorist attacks have happened. Tunisia is bursting with armed males. Guards surrounded the president’s estate (he appears paranoid).
It is hazardous for biking in Tunis, between irregular roadways, sand, air contamination, and insane motorists. There is a bit of treking.
The food illness and colds I had while there were not coincidences; however, an outcome of an absence of food health, an absence of masks, and a fellow on the train coughing definitely all over to a basic absence of issues from everybody other than me. I believe the tap water made me a bit queasy from excess chlorine evaluated by the taste. This is the only nation I have been to where I stayed with mineral water all the time, and I’m not too fond of the waste of that plastic.
Not in the taxis, numerous of them do not have seat belts, which with the insane driving appears rather careless. I will likewise point out that I took method to many upset taxi trips (Bolt) getting around town.

A great place to be. Excellent price/quality ratio. You can easily find everything needed to work: coworking, sim (you can eg use Airalo). There is a plenty of things to do in the city and around it. Food is dirt cheap and delicious.
It can be trashy and sometimes touristy but that didn’t cause problems for me.
I came here the autumn 2021. Before i had lived in another Turkish city which was amazing! But I had to live that place and came here.
What can I say? My first real estate agent scammed me for 1500TL. And I couldn’t rent any apartment for 6 months because I am a single woman and also my national is being considered as not the one with decent women. So finally after 2 weeks of searching and meetings with many completely rude and unprofessionally real estate agents I did find the apartment.
What am I thinking about now? Yes, how to leave this city. The city centre is not clean, it’s almost impossible to have a taxi, the electricity cuts off very frequently and i Never know when my remote work will be stopped. The city itself is overcrowded and despite living in the city center I am afraid to walk nearby at night.
I spent one year in Istanbul and it’s absolutely amazing. The city is really safe, I went back home really late during the night, walking, without any problem. Parties are really fun and there are all kinds of spots to have fun (bars, nightclubs, restaurants…). The city has a lot of cafés to work at and most of them have free and reliable wifi. Definitely recommend!
